Customers will start to see these solar panels next to every substation.. Some will be small like this proto-type.. Others will be very, very large.. The industry refers to this type of project as “Behind the Fence” and part of the new “Smart Grid” and “PV Micro Grid Technology”.

This project is wired at a unprecedented 1000Volt configuration. Standard wiring is 600Volt. Behind the fence means Utility Owned and Operated solar array.. the higher voltages allow for higher module string counts that requires considerably less materials and time to hook up.
